Double Smoked Jalapeño Honey Ham

This double smoked jalapeño honey ham was an instant hit with my family. This was our first one for this channel, and we devoured the entire thing in probably 2 days. The beauty of these is that they are already cooked, and so your job is only to reheat and add flavor, both of which are super easy and pretty hands off! I highly recommend this one for a holiday gathering or even just a super easy meal prep of meat that you and multiple people can enjoy for several days.

Ingredients

  • 1 pre-smoked ham of your choice

  • Hot honey (regular honey is also fine)

  • 2-4 Jalapeños (Depending on your preference)

  • 2/3 cup of brown sugar

  • BBQ Rub of your choice (we used Kosmos Killer Honey Bee)

  • Cooking spray

  • 1/2 stick of butter

Equipment

  • Pellet grill

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Stand ham up on cutting board and spray with cooking spray

  2. Generously pour rub on ham surface and let adhere for 15 minutes

Cooking

  1. Preheat smoker to 250 degrees

  2. Add meat probe thermometer to ham to monitor internal temperature throughout cook

  3. Add to smoker and let cook for a couple hours. When temperature is around 120 internal, you can start making glaze.

Glaze

  1. Add butter to sauce pan and melt

  2. Add brown sugar and stir until mixed and melting.

  3. Add diced jalapeños (seeds removed unless you want extra spicy), cook for a minute.

  4. Add as much honey as you want. I gave it a really good squeeze, probably almost half of a small bottle

  5. Mix and simmer for several minutes but remove from heat before it gets too thick

Finishing up

  1. When internal temperature of ham reaches around 125-130 start brushing glaze on ham. Repeat every 15 minutes until ham reaches internal temperature of 140. The ham is already cooked, so food safety isn't the real concern here, but mainly you just want it hot enough to serve and be enjoyable!
